Safeguarding at The Kalamitia Clinic

The safety and wellbeing of children and young people is our highest priority. We are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for every family who uses our service.

Safeguarding means protecting children from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and harm. It also means recognising concerns early and acting quickly and appropriately.

Safeguarding applies to all clinicians, staff, and contractors working with The Kalamitia Clinic. It is embedded throughout every part of our clinical practice.

What Happens if a Safeguarding Concern Arises

If we are worried about a child or young person’s safety:

  • We will speak with the young person and/or parent where appropriate

  • We will assess immediate risk

  • We may contact the GP, school, or other professionals

  • We may seek advice from Children’s Social Care if thresholds are unclear

  • If needed, we will refer to Children’s Social Care or emergency services

  • We will always act in the best interests of the child

  • We will normally discuss concerns with families unless doing so would increase risk

  • All safeguarding concerns and actions are documented clearly and securely

Information Sharing

We only share information when:

  • It is necessary to protect a child

  • There is a risk of harm

  • We are legally required to do so

  • It is needed for safe clinical care

Where consent is required, we will always seek it first. We follow the Information Sharing Advice for Practitioners (DfE) and share information strictly on a need‑to‑know basis.
