Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

We know that starting an assessment journey can feel overwhelming. This FAQ page answers the most common questions families ask about our clinicians, assessments, processes, and support.

About Our Clinicians

Who are the clinicians at The Kalamitia Clinic?

Our team includes highly experienced NHS‑trained clinicians specialising in child and adolescent mental health, ADHD, and autism. Profiles are available on our Meet Our Clinicians page.

What qualifications do your clinicians have?

Our clinicians include:

  • Consultant Psychiatrists

  • Advanced Clinical Practitioners

  • Registered Learning Disability Nurses

  • Independent Prescribers

All follow national guidance including NICEGMCNMC, and Working Together to Safeguard Children.

Do your clinicians have CAMHS experience?

Yes. All clinicians have extensive NHS CAMHS backgrounds, including crisis services, home treatment pathways, eating disorder services, and neurodevelopmental assessment.

About Assessments

What conditions do you assess for?

We specialise in ADHD and autism assessments for children and adolescents. Our clinicians also have expertise in complex mental health presentations.

Are your assessments evidence‑based?

Yes. We use validated tools, structured clinical interviews, and neuroaffirming approaches grounded in current research and national guidance.

Do you offer prescribing?

Not at this time. During Phase 1, The Kalamitia Clinic Ltd provides assessment‑only services and does not offer medication initiation, prescribing, or physical health monitoring.

However, our clinicians — including our Advanced Clinical Practitioner and Consultant Psychiatrists — are fully trained and qualified prescribers.

Prescribing will be introduced in Phase 2, following successful CQC registration and approval.

Booking & Appointments

How do I book an appointment?

You can book directly through our website using the Booking an Appointment page.

Do you offer remote assessments?

Yes. We provide secure, ADHD and mental health remote assessments designed to be accessible and family‑friendly. Autism assessments follow a hybrid model.

Do you offer remote autism assessments?

We offer a hybrid model: remote history + brief face‑to‑face observation.

Why is a face-to-face appointment needed?

Our consultant psychiatrist prefers to complete a short in‑person observation to ensure clinical accuracy.

Where does the face-to-face appointment take place?

We rent clinic rooms on an ad‑hoc basis. Locations are offered at booking.

What happens if I need to cancel?

Please see our Refund & Cancellation Policy for full details.

Safeguarding & Safety

How do you keep children safe?

We follow national safeguarding guidance and have a Designated Safeguarding Lead (Chelsea Laing). All clinicians undergo regular safeguarding training.

Do you provide crisis support?

No. We do not provide emergency or crisis services. If you are worried about a child’s immediate safety, contact:

  • 999

  • NHS 111

  • Your local Crisis Team

  • Your nearest A&E

Communication & Reports

Will I receive a written report?

Yes. All assessments include a detailed clinical report with recommendations.

Do you communicate with schools or GPs?

With consent, we can share reports or relevant information with schools, GPs, or other professionals involved in care.

Will the NHS, schools or SEND accept a private assessment report?

Yes. Our clinicians routinely complete NHS neurodevelopmental assessments and follow the same standards, tools and NICE‑aligned processes. Our reports are written to a clinical standard accepted by NHS services, schools and SEND teams. Schools and local authorities regularly use private reports for SEN support and EHCP evidence.

Costs & Payments

Where can I find pricing information?

All fees are listed on our Services and Pricing page.
