Adult ADHD & Mental Health Assessments
A clearer understanding of your experiences. A supported next step.
At The Kalamitia Clinic, we offer online adult ADHD and mental health assessments for people aged 18 and over.
Whether you have longstanding difficulties with attention and organisation, are struggling with your emotional wellbeing, or are unsure what might explain your experiences, we provide space to talk, explore your concerns and understand your needs.
Our specialist work with children and young people remains central to the clinic. Our adult assessment pathways extend our compassionate, individual approach to adults seeking clarity about their own lives.
Adult ADHD Assessments
Have things always felt harder than they seem to for other people?
You may have spent years finding ways to manage difficulties with concentration, organisation, restlessness or impulsivity. Perhaps these difficulties have become more noticeable as the demands of work, relationships or family life have increased.
You might recognise experiences such as:
-
Finding it difficult to start or finish everyday tasks.
-
Losing track of time, appointments or belongings.
-
Becoming easily distracted or struggling to sustain attention.
-
Feeling restless or finding it difficult to switch off.
-
Acting or speaking impulsively.
-
Working hard to stay organised but still feeling overwhelmed.
These experiences can have different explanations. An assessment explores whether ADHD may account for your difficulties, while considering your wider mental health, circumstances and developmental history.
What the assessment involves
Our adult ADHD pathway includes:
-
A detailed discussion of your current concerns and their impact on everyday life.
-
Exploration of childhood experiences, education, work and relationships.
-
Review of your mental health, physical health and relevant medical history.
-
Structured clinical interviews and appropriate questionnaires.
-
Supporting information from someone who knows you well or historical records, where available and with your consent.
-
Consideration of other possible explanations and coexisting difficulties.
-
Clinical feedback and a written report explaining the findings and recommendations.
If childhood records or someone who knew you when you were younger are unavailable, please discuss this with us during your suitability call.
An assessment does not automatically result in an ADHD diagnosis. Our aim is to reach a careful clinical understanding and explain what the findings mean for you.
Adult Mental Health Assessments
You do not need to know what is wrong before asking for help.
You may be experiencing low mood, anxiety, emotional overwhelm or changes in how you feel and function. You may want a clearer understanding of longstanding difficulties or a professional assessment to help identify appropriate next steps.
Our adult mental health assessments provide time to explore your experiences in the context of your life.
What the assessment involves
Depending on your concerns, your assessment may explore:
-
Your mood, anxiety, sleep and emotional wellbeing.
-
The onset, pattern and impact of your difficulties.
-
Your personal circumstances, relationships and sources of support.
-
Previous mental health care, medication and relevant medical history.
-
Your safety, current support needs and protective factors.
-
Possible explanations for your experiences and whether further assessment is needed.
You will receive clinical feedback and a written report setting out the findings, any diagnosis reached and recommendations for further care or support.
A mental health assessment does not replace a dedicated ADHD or autism assessment. If a different pathway would be more appropriate, we will explain this.
A Thoughtful, Individual Approach
We listen without judgement and recognise that people arrive at assessment with different experiences, expectations and concerns.
You are welcome to tell us about any communication, sensory or accessibility needs before your appointment. We will discuss reasonable adjustments with you so that you know what to expect and can participate as comfortably as possible.
With your consent, you may also involve someone you trust where appropriate.
What Happens After Your Assessment?
We explain the findings, answer your questions and discuss practical next steps. Recommendations may include strategies for everyday life, workplace adjustments, psychological support, further assessment or discussion with your GP.
With your consent, your report can be shared with your GP or another healthcare professional involved in your care.
Our current adult offer is assessment and recommendations. We do not currently provide medication initiation, prescribing or titration. If you are seeking an assessment specifically to access medication, please discuss this with us before booking. Any future prescribing or shared-care arrangement would require the agreement and assessment of the professionals involved.
